Unusual workshops in the heart of Paris: a sensory experience in the dark, with our expert Tiffany.
5 questions to our sensory expert Tiffany:
Tiffany helps us discover our other senses and shares her expertise through educational and friendly exchanges that are not devoid of emotion and poetry! Let's meet this passionate lover of the senses:
- What's your background in a few words?
Visually impaired from birth, I always knew that all the jobs in the world couldn't be within my reach. However, I was determined to make the most of my difference in my professional life. That's when the world of perfumes came to me as a matter of course! Sight doesn't matter when you have to work on your sense of smell. So, in 2016, I graduated with a Master's degree in Sensory Evaluation and Perfume Formulation from ISIPCA, a prestigious perfumery school in Versailles. I was lucky enough to work for a major cosmetics group in the Perfume Sensory Evaluation department. Perfumery is a rich, rigorous and poetic universe. It permeates our memories. I see it as an art that takes us back to our own emotions.
- When and how did you start working for Dans le Noir ?
I began the great Dans le Noir ? adventure in February 2018. After the experiences of meals and tasting workshops in absolute darkness, a new large-scale project was being born in Paris: the creation of olfactory workshops in absolute darkness, guided by a visually impaired sensory expert. I was immediately motivated by this project, and today we're delighted to be able to offer these workshops to the general public as well as to corporate groups. But the project didn't stop there! We went on to design a unique wine-tasting workshop in total darkness. Today, in addition to running our workshops, I'm in charge of theEspace Sensoriel Dans le Noir ? in Paris. It's a wonderful adventure that never ceases to reveal new surprises.
- What do you like best about the workshops? dans le noir ?
The workshops we offer at the Espaces Sensoriel Dans le Noir ? are real moments of sharing, both between participants and with the facilitators. In the dark, the other senses are revealed, offering unforgettable moments. My aim is to provide our guests with workshops that are timeless, convivial and full of meaning, and that will put a smile on their faces!
We offer a workshop called"Wine without a label", based on wine tasting in complete darkness, as well as several perfume workshops to awaken emotions and memories:"Perfume & you","The oriental and you","The perfume trunk". Of course, we also offer blind tasting workshops in 40-minute or 1.5-hour formats, an unusual activity in Paris that lets you reconnect with your senses! These are original activities in Paris to enjoy with friends, family or colleagues!
- After perfume, wine and food, what workshop in the dark would you like to offer tomorrow?
Since I started working at Dans le Noir ?, I've quickly realized that absolute darkness can be a very powerful tool for bringing our other senses to the fore, for better revealing the different aspects that characterize a product, for better communicating, for sharing... We could imagine an enormous number of things that could be done in complete darkness. Still with the aim of offering unique and convivial sensory experiences, we could imagine inviting our guests to come and play in the dark. But... It seems to me that we've just launched a brand new Escape Game experience Dans le Noir ?, and I'd be delighted to welcome you there to test your sensory potential in a thrilling adventure!
All the workshops we offer at the Espace Sensoriel Dans le Noir ? Paris, are original and unusual gift ideas, so don't hesitate to surprise your loved ones, and of course we offer gift vouchers for all tastes on our online store:)
- Which adjective best describes you and why?
POSITIVE! Despite the difficulties I face on a daily basis due to my disability, I'm always able to bounce back and see the glass as half full rather than half empty. I think it's by being positive that we can move forward. I always try to bring this positive aspect to those around me. They say Parisians are always sulking, so let's try and put a smile on their faces with some great experiences :)
See you soon!
